Under pressure of Strategic Vendor Management Cloud (SLM Cloud), an initiative of the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security, Microsoft adjusts its conditions to be able to guarantee more privacy for Cloud customers worldwide. Julie Brill, Chief Privacy Officer & Corporate Vice President for Global Privacy and Regulatory Affairs Microsoft, announced an update of the privacy provisions in the Microsoft Online Service Terms (OST) in their commercial Cloud contracts.
Research from SLM Cloud on compliance by Microsoft with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduced in 2018 has forced this result. The updated privacy provisions in the OST correspond to the contractual changes that SLM Cloud imposed earlier this year for the GDPR-compliant use of Microsoft products and services for governmental institutions.
A first important result of SLM Cloud to convince a Cloud provider to be compliant to privacy legislation. Interested in our research and dialogues with Cloud providers on privacy for governmental institutions?
